Miami Police Union Votes To Boycott Beyoncé Concert
The Miami Police Union has reportedly voted in favor of all law enforcement officers boycotting Beyonce’s Miami concert in April. They are also urging other law enforcement agencies around the country to join them.Officials claim Beyonce promoted an anti-police message in her Formation video and during her Super Bowl halftime show performance.
"The Miami Fraternal Order of Police has voted to have all law enforcement officers boycott Beyoncé’s concert which is being held at the Miami Marlins Stadium on Wednesday, April 26, 2016. The fact that Beyoncé used this year’s Super Bowl to divide Americans by promoting the Black Panthers and her antipolice message shows how she does not support law enforcement," said the president of Miami Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #20, Javier Ortiz.
Wednesday, Fox 13 reported that no police officers in Tampa, Florida, had signed up to staff Beyonce's concert. However, HuffPost reports that a Tampa Police spokesman informed them on Thursday that officers had signed up for the event, and it would be fully staffed.
